The varsity scholar bowl team won the conference championship on Saturday. Varsity team members include Brady Kruse, Riley Otten, Josh Lindley, Bob Pruessner, Andrew Menke, Nathan Allgaier, Robbie Cichon, Emily Moreno, and Drew Armfield. The JV team placed second in the conference. JV members include Kalli Stubblefield, Martin Lewis, Dalton Gerdes, Olivia Williams, Vanessa Vallejo, Julia McIntyre, and Cece Malone.

High School senior Nathan Allgaier of New Haven High School has been selected for the 2016 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri's top academic students in the graduating class of 2016. The announcement was made by Josh Hoener, principal at New Haven High School. Students will be recognized at a luncheon at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia, MO, on Sunday, April 24, 2016. Franklin County Deputies are seeking information on the whereabouts of a stolen vehicle, and a person of interest in. Around 8:30 AM on March 9, a red 2003 GMC Sonoma Extended Cab 4x4 with a silver roof rack and MO license 0MV-749, was stolen from a location in St Clair City Limits. Deputies spotted the vehicle in the Moselle area around 9:00 AM and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect vehicle led Deputies on a high speed pursuit east bound on I-44 from the 245 MM to the Villa Ridge area. The suspected driver and vehicle have not been located at the time of this release. The vehicle is possibly abandoned in the Villa Ridge / St Mary's Road area and would be missing a bumper. Jerry Courtway Jr, 44 year old male of Richwoods, MO, is wanted for questioning as a person of interest in the theft of the vehicle and subsequent pursuit. A 23 year old white male passenger was arrested while walking on St Mary’s Road shortly after Deputies lost sight of the vehicle, and charges are being sought. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle or Mr. Courtway is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office. Callers may remain anonymous if they wish. JEFFERSON CITY – With spring severe weather season approaching and possible flooding in the immediate forecast for much of the state, Gov. Jay Nixon today called on Missourians to renew their efforts to prepare for potential deadly flooding, tornadoes and severe storms. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – Hunters, anglers, and trappers in Missouri have been buying permits online through the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) website since 2011 and through the free MDC “Mo Hunting” mobile app since 2014. Retail stores, convenience stores, and other places that sell permits will catch up to this online technology starting March 15.
The February Student of the Month is senior Stephanie Russo. Stephanie is the daughter of Evie and Michael Russo. She is active in softball, cheerleading, track, FBLA, FCCLA, and marching band auxiliary. The New Haven Lions Club held their annual Pancake Supper on Tuesday, February 9th. The Pancake Supper is a New Haven tradition dating back many years. The proceeds this year were donated to the Jason and Nicole Laune Family in the amount of $3,500. The Lions Club and the Laune family greatly appreciate the generosity and support of the New Haven community.

I always knew Trevor was different, but I don’t see him as autistic. I see him as an energetic, caring, and happy boy who can always see the greatness in people and the world. Matthew Laune, an 8th grader at New Haven Middle School, is finding out first hand. Matthew’s teacher, Mrs. Westermeyer, gave her students an assignment: to write a persuasive letter urging companies to send samples, promotional items, or other kinds of products. August Panhorst has been selected as the New Haven Middle School of the Month. August is a hard worker who strives to turn in his best work. He isn't afraid to ask questions and he sets a great example for his classmates by making positive choices. August enjoys playing baseball, basketball, football, tennis and hanging out with his cousins. At school he is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and was a member of the basketball team. August's future plans include attending college at SLU or Mizzou to become a Civil Engineer. August is the son of Tori and Jessica Panhorst. Congratulations August! By Rachel Connell The New Haven Marching Band is back at it again! Their plan this year is to perform in the 47th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in St. Louis, Missouri. The parade will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 12:00 pm in downtown St. Louis. This summer East Central College will offer current high school sophomores and juniors a unique opportunity to earn college credit at a reduced tuition rate.
New Haven’s junior varsity scholar bowl team competed in the Montgomery County High School tournament on February 20, finishing third out of 12 teams. It was the team’s best finish all season.
