Laura Miller, NHHS alumni and author of the national best-selling Butterfly Weeds and My Butterfly and NHHS graduate, has done it again with her latest novel, For All You Have Left. As in her other novels, Miller brings love, family, and deep emotion into her writing. From beginning to end, Laura Miller takes the reader on a journey that teaches them how to find themselves when it seems all hope is lost.
To mapmakers, paper towns is a phrase they use to make fictional entries in their maps to see if anyone is copying them. But to Margo Roth Spiegelman, a character in the book Paper Towns, the definition of paper towns is so much more than a mapmaker’s phrase.
You may find it hard to believe a story about going across the universe can be written in three books, but it has been done! Author Beth Revis was able to achieve this in her trilogy that centers around a story full of action, romance, and futuristic possibilities. When each book is finished, the reader will be left wanting to know more about this journey across the stars.
Have you ever had a fake relationship with someone? On accident? Well, this situation occurred to Laura-Jean. Laura-Jean is the main character in Jenny Han’s novel To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Her story is an interesting one and started with a letter she wrote to boys she once loved.
John Green, successful author of novels such as Fault in Our Stars; Will Grayson,Will Grayson; and Paper Towns, released a book long before the rest. The book Looking for Alaska shows how Mr. Green’s style has evolved throughout his books. Being one of his earliest books, it is written in a tone that seems less experienced than his newer books. His book is not a terrible novel, nor is it one you should pass by. However, if you don’t connect with the storyline from the beginning, it may not ever come into clarity.
Do you remember that one movie your parents or older siblings used to watch all the time? For some reason, it has just always stuck with you? Do you know what lies beyond the walls of the Maze? In order to find out, you would have to get hooked on the Maze Runner series. An interested reader should get hooked by reading the first book. It leaves one thinking and wanting more.
One Tree Hill is an epic television drama that broadcasts the lives of two half brothers who are the same age but have separate mothers. Through out the series’ almost decade-long run, viewers are taken through the journey of their high school experience, complicated love lives, and the characters’ love for basketball.
