They Call Him the Legend

2/13/2015

He’s known as the “Legend,” the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history, and his story is being told in theaters worldwide.

In the new hit movie American Sniper, Chris Kyle`s, played by Bradley Cooper, story is told.  This film follows his life before becoming a SEAL, during his career, and after he returns home.
From personal experience, combat movies were never interesting; however, American Sniper gets a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.  This film was so emotional, but yet intriguing at the same time.  Once the movie starts, the viewer is automatically pulled into the intense action and suspense that this film creates.  When Kyle is deployed to Iraq, gruesome combat scenes go into precise detail, providing excellent lighting and camera angles that throw the viewer up close and personal in the action, making him or her feel a part of the action.

When in combat on a rooftop, one of Kyle’s brothers-in-arms, Biggles, is shot by an unseen sniper while discussing where he got his engagement ring for his girlfriend.  Kyle calls for help, and the crew rushes him to the convoy to get him to safety.  The scene then flashes out and leaves a cliff-hanger to reveal Biggles’ condition.  The action in this scene goes from calm to immediately intense, providing the up-close action that pulls the viewer in.

This film is rated a 5 out of 5 for its excellent way of portraying the story of Chris Kyle’s life accurately and with emotion.  The camera angles gave the in-action feeling actually being in combat with the SEALs and gave an up-close and personal look at Kyle’s life in combat, while also covering the aspects of the difficulties the war had brought upon his relationship with his family back home.

American Sniper is highly recommended for appropriate audiences who enjoy action-packed combat movies with a twist.
