The New Haven Marching Band is back at it again! Their plan this year is to perform in the 47th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in St. Louis, Missouri. The parade will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 12:00 pm in downtown St. Louis.
Carolyn Allgaier, a junior flutist in the band, states, “It’s a brand new experience that I’m thrilled for. And we finally get to march in our new band uniforms! I hope we get to do this every year from here on out.”
Starting a few weeks ago, the NHHS Marching Band got back outside to continue practicing their marching style, as well as their song “I Get Around” by the Beach Boys.
Many were excited and thrilled to get back into the swing of things.
“I absolutely LOVE marching band,” states freshman, Megan Boehmer. “It is so much fun to march because of the powerful people we have in our band. Everyone is so talented and dedicated to what they’re doing. I can’t wait to march at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.”
With hard work and dedication, the band has proven that they’ve got what it takes to impress the crowd. Their large array of trophies from this marching season has made many proud, including many parents and teachers.
Ereka Bailey, senior, states “The band is doing great this year and will continue to show the tradition of excellence! I’m super excited to go to this parade because we’re practically the mascot. I mean, we’re the Marching Shamrocks and St. Patrick’s Day is nothing but shamrocks. So we’re going to fit in well.”
Good luck in St. Louis, Marching Shamrocks!
