![]() The Mercy Clinic in New Haven, MO encourages healthy minds as well as healthy bodies! A couple of years ago Emma King started donating her personal books to the clinic where her mom, Barb King FNP, works when she learned that some children didn’t have a lot of books to read. This developed into “Emma’s Books” where children may choose a book to take home after their visit to the clinic. Emma’s classmates at Our Lady of Lourdes in Washington, MO recently began donating their books as an “Act of Kindness” to Emma as a way to honor her dad’s life. Not long ago, the Library Leaders at New Haven Elementary School held a book drive at school to collect books for the waiting area at the Mercy Clinic in New Haven. One of the Library Leaders, Lane O’Hern, built a bookshelf for this project with help from his parents. Lane’s grandfather, Larry Hanks, donated the materials and help paint the book shelf. On Wednesday, February 17, 2016 the Library Leaders delivered the shelf and over 100 books to the clinic. The Library Leaders got to meet Emma, too! These young people understand the importance of books and want to share their enthusiasm for reading with the New Haven community!
