| By: Kamryn Poe Photos by: McKenzie Overschmidt The baseball season is starting and there are a lot of new pressures on the team. The varsity and junior varsity boys have new challenges ahead and are hoping to reach their new goals this year. |
The team has been through a lot together, such as changing 3 coaches in the last 3 years. Together, the boys make the most of their situations and they push each other to do their very best each time they hit that field.
Claire Meyer, senior, has been a baseball fan for the past 3 years, and this year is happy to not only be a cheering fan, but a supportive manager. “I am looking forward to seeing my friends play and being able to support and spend time with them.” She has been able to see her classmates and friends grow these past few years.
“I can’t wait to see the boys play their hearts out and be better than ever before,” Kamryn Poe, senior, explained. “They have some real talent on the team and I hope they use it to their advantage. These boys want to win so much. I want that for them because they deserve it. They have spent years playing baseball, and I want them to see they are as good as us fans believe them to be.”
Players such as Nolen Brown were excited that the team last year beat the number 1 ranked team in their district. He is hoping they can do it again.
August Panhorst, a sophomore, said his favorite memories were “hanging out with [my] teammates in the dugout, bus, and playing baseball.”
Austin Yochim, junior, wants everyone playing to remember to “keep your head up, and no matter how hard it is to succeed, do everything you can do to succeed.”
The team still has a lot to do to prepare for their season, but we wish them tons of luck this year. Work hard, stay down, and win some games, boys. We will be cheering you on this season. Hooray!
