On Tuesday, October 8, the New Haven varsity volleyball team lost against the Owensville Dutchgirls. They lost the first set 18-25 and the second set 22-25.
The starters for the varsity game were Payton Burkhardt, Maria Sheible, McKenzie Overschmidt, McKenzie Pecaut, Ellie Westermeyer, and Hannah Rethemeyer. The alternates were Katelyn Byers, Lucy Hoener, Natalie Covington, Alaina Scott, Natalie Pecaut, Sheny Delgado, Morgan Branson, and Lauren Hoerstkamp.
The managers are Chloe Lueckenhoff, Keerstin Mason, Lydia Otten, Chris Wilson, and Aaliyah Bates.
The girls were very focused during their warm-up and had positive moods all game.
Some of the spectators thought the girls played a very hard game even though they couldn’t defeat Owensville.
A few of the players were asked what their opinions were on the game, and junior Katelyn Byers said, “I think we played hard and will be more prepared for our next game.”
Some of the girls were asked how they did personally, and junior Hannah Rethemeyer said, “I think I did decent because I had a few good plays.”
Junior Ellie Westermeyer said, “I thought I played well compared to playing them in the Hermann Tournament.”
