The next question that was asked is where she went to college and what her degrees are in. Ms. Bailey replied, “I went to East Central, and I got my degrees in general education and in skin therapy.”
Many of the teachers come back to New Haven to teach, and so did she. When she was asked why, she answered, “I’ve always wanted to come back to New Haven because when you go to school here, you have a bond that makes you want to come back, and I’ve always wanted to help coach volleyball. It just worked out.”
“I look forward to learning new things. Everyday is different, which pushes me out of my comfort zone to make me work even more.” Bailey is not doing all of her work without help. “Ms. Allen has been very helpful by easing obstacles that I will encounter. She has been very calm and informative about my new position.”
Volleyball is another way she is a part of this school. She was asked if she liked coaching and if she remembers the feeling of winning state.“Yes, I absolutely enjoy volunteering! I do it for the tradition of New Haven and for my love of volleyball. The girls this year have a chance to do something great, and I am happy to be a part of it.” When asked about the feeling of winning state, she said, “The feeling is indescribable. It’s something we worked so hard for and we accomplished it. Winning state was something we worked toward our whole lives.” As the new school year is beginning, Ms. Bailey is able to share her love of volleyball by coaching and her love of New Haven by being back in the halls where she spent her high school years.
