This year the Homecoming Dance was held on February 1, 2019, at around 9:00 P.M. to 11:30 P.M. in the NHHS cafeteria. It was hosted by Student Council.
Annually, Homecoming is a big deal to many students here at New Haven High School. After the final shrieking bell of the day, students rush home, take their showers and prim and primp, until they look their very best. The process can take hours, especially if you’re a girl. You have the hair, the makeup, the dress, the shoes, the pictures, and the struggle of not tripping over your shoes or dress walking around all night. The guys feel the pressure of looking their best too, always trying to impress the ladies.
When asked how students got ready, everyone said they got ready with a friend. It seems it’s always more fun to get ready with a friend listening to music rather than sitting at home alone for hours before the dance.
Many people said that they decided to grab a bite to eat before the dance, and Destiney Quick, freshman, said, “I went to the Ice Cream Shoppe with some friends before going to Homecoming.”
Some people had to rush to get ready because they played in the game, had a practice, or worked concessions before the dance.
Chloe Lueckenhoff, sophomore, stated, “I had to work concessions for the Homecoming game, so I had to rush to get ready after the game.”
It was a long process to get ready, as Hannah Knoppe, junior, explains, “It took Addison, Abby, Audrey, and I about 5 whole hours to get ready!”
Every year it’s always fun for everyone to get ready for the Homecoming Dance, but it can be a challenge to get ready in a short time. Getting ready with friends and listening to music can always be a great part of any dance. Can’t wait for next year!
