Once the jeans are all donated, they will be taken to Aeropostal, who is partnered with DoSomething.org. Then, Aeropostal ships them around the nation and gives them to teens in need.
As stated on DoSomething.org, “Jeans are the perfect item to donate. They can be worn multiple times between washes, can be dressed up or dressed down, and provide a sense of normalcy to the person wearing them.” Just think about the difference a pair of jeans can make in someone’s life.
If you are inspired to help too, you can donate to Emily’s cause. Donated jeans can be in any condition. Emily remarked, “Even jeans with holes in them are good enough. Any size is acceptable too.” On top of being gently worn, colored jeans are suitable.
To donate jeans, an individual can drop off his or her donations at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 607 Main Street, New Haven, MO 63068, in Mrs. Miller’s FACS Room, or by contacting Emily Lewis to make arrangements.
Emily reports, “People have donated so much already; it’s amazing. I have trashbags full of jeans people have donated. The more people donate, the bigger difference is made with the struggling youth population.”
It’s not too late to submit jeans to Emily Lewis, but the cutoff date --February 6, 2015-- is swiftly approaching.
Additionally, If you are interested in participating in your own campaign, visit DoSomething.org to find the right one! As exclaimed by Emily, “Doing charity makes people feel good, and it benefits everyone involved.”
