Bump, set, spike! It’s that time of year again, Shamrock volleyball fans! The kneepads are on, the sweat is dripping, and the “HOORAH’s” are in the air. No need to worry, though, the Shamrocks have started off their season with wins! The Shamrocks began their 2014-15 season competing against the Cuba Wildcats. The night started off with a successful win by the Junior Varsity (JV), coached by Mr. Dennis Carey, and assisted by Mrs. Sharon Speckhals. The varsity, coached by Jaime Hoener and assisted by Ashleigh Bailey, came out on top as well, beating the Wildcats in a two-set win. Later, The Shamrocks’ first home game started off against the Belle Lady Tigers. Both the JV and the Varsity ended the night with two-set wins. The Varsity concluded with a 33% hitting average overall as a team. This season, Mrs. Hoener has one steady goal from game to game, improvement. “Every game needs to better than the one before; we can’t let up at all.” So far, the girls have improved little by little in the first two games. Follow their season and see if they reach the coaches’ goal. -by Lauren Bergner
