Tuesday, October 13th, marked the final home game of the season for the New Haven Shamrocks. New Haven took on the St. Clair Lady Bulldogs in the final Four Rivers Conference match of the season.
When asked about her pregame feelings, senior Maddie Fleer stated, “Before the game, I had a bittersweet feeling about playing my last game at NHHS as a Shamrock.”
The Shamrocks and the Bulldogs played neck and neck to obtain the first few points. Senior Emma Borcherding brought the Shamrocks into a 9 point lead, serving 5 aces along the way. In the end, the Shamrocks swept the first set 25-15 against the Bulldogs.
Senior Emma Borcherding says that the Shamrocks’ greatest strengths in the game were “passing and serving aggressively.”
In regards to the upcoming postseason, senior Erin Scheer added, “I’m really excited for the postseason! If we just play free and easy, and keep going like we have been, we’ll be just fine!”
