On Tuesday, March 29, the New Haven track and field team raced at the St. Francis Borgia meet.
On the girls side, Helias Catholic came in first with 93 points, New Haven A came in second with 44 points, St. Francis Borgia A came in third with 35 points, St. Clair A came in fourth with 30 points, Sullivan A came in fifth with 21 points, New Haven B, Borgia B, and Sullivan B all came in sixth with 14 points, and St. Clair B came in last with 6 points.
In the 4x800 meter relay, the boys team made up of Ford, Madden, McDowell, and Stone got second place with a time of 9:15.80.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Kate Ruediger got third place with a time of 18.58, and Emma Engelbrecht got sixth place with a time of 18.89.
In the 4x200 meter relay, the boys team made up of Majors, Blankenship, Horstmann, and Kruse got second place with a time of 1:39.72. Also, the team made up of Huff, Blair, Groner, and Moeckli got fifth place with a time of 1:44.05. On the girls side, the team made up of Munsinger, Bauer, Russo, and Zeitzmann got second place with a time of 1:57.90.
In the 1600 meter run, Tim Madden got seventh place with a time of 5:14.23 and Martin Lewis got tenth place with a time of 5:15.94 on the boys side. Julia McIntyre got fourth place with a time of 6:03.08 on the girls side.
In the 4x100 meter relay, the boys team made up of Blair, Blankenship, Horstmann, and Kruse got fourth place with a time of 48.46. Also, the team made up of Huff, Gerdes, Groner, and Moeckli got fifth place with a time of 51.18. On the girls side, the team of Munsinger, Bauer, Russo, and Zeitzmann got second place with a time of 56.06. In addition, the team made up of Widemann, Bailey. Long, and Pataky got fourth place with a time of 1:00.01.
In the 400 meter run, Jon Stone got fifth place with a time of 56.22 on the boys side. Andi Wideman got ninth place with a time of 1:11.24 on the girls side.
In the 300 meter hurdles, Damian Gale got tenth place with a time of 57.40 on the boys side. Kate Ruediger got second place with a time of 53.66, and Kate Weiser got eighth place with a time of 59.02.
In the 800 meter run, Ryan Blankenship got eighth place with a time of 2:18.86, and Jon Stone got tenth place with a time of 2:20.29.
In the 200 meter dash, Emma Engelbrecht got second place with a time of 28.31.
In the 3200 meter run, Joseph Rethemeyer got fifth place with a time of 11:39.98 on the boys side. Julia McIntyre got second place with a time of 12:45.40.
In the 4x400 meter relay, the boys team made up of McDowell, Kruse, Majors, and Stone got first place with a time of 3:41.31. On the girls side, the team of Ruediger, Bauer, Engelbrecht, and Gerlemann got first place with a time of 4:24.24. In addition, the team of Zeitzmann, McNabb, Munsinger, and Wideman got third place with a time of 4:46.52.
In the high jump, Martin Lewis got fourth place, Sebastian Blair got sixth place, Tim Pruessner got seventh place, and Ethan Groner got eighth place on the boys side. Lydia Pataky got seventh place on the girls side.
In the long jump, Jared Horstmann got eighth place on the boys side. Lauren Gerlemann got first place, Alison Long got third place, and Ereka Bailey got seventh place, all on the girls side.
In the triple jump, Emma Engelbrecht got first place, Ereka Bailey got second place, and Alison Long got fifth place on the girls side.
Senior Ereka Bailey stated, “I thought the weather was really nice at Borgia, and I think that really helped my jumping at the meet.”
In the shot put, Alex Majors got second place and Nathan Allgaier got tenth place, on the boys side. Lauren Bergner got third place and Lauren Gerlemann got fourth place on the girls side.
Senior Lauren Bergner pronounced, “I think the competition was different than our past meets, and I think it helped us see diversity that we will see at later meets in the season.”
Lastly, in the discus, Austin Moeckli got seventh and Nathan Allgaier got tenth on the boys side. Lauren Gerlemann got fourth place and Lauren Bergner got sixth place.
