Jaime Hoener is an organized, humorous math teacher at New Haven High School. Mrs. Hoener’s full name is Jaime Lynette Wolfe Hoener. She has one brother, Kyle, who is thirty-five. She also has one niece, Hailey, 14, and four nephews: Wyatt, 12; Hayden, 9; Greysen, 4; and Dawson, 1.
Mrs. Hoener has been teaching in the New Haven School District for sixteen years, and she has been teaching math at New Haven High School for fifteen years. She pronounced, “Mrs. River and Coach Steinhoff inspired me to become a teacher. Since I wanted to teach high school, I had to pick a speciality subject, and math has always interested me!”
She may be a math teacher, but Mrs. Hoener is also the varsity volleyball coach. When asked why she wanted to be a volleyball coach, Mrs. Hoener stated, “I have always loved the sport and felt like I could help girls become better players.”
Seniors Lauren Bergner and Ereka Bailey stated, “Coach Hoener has a really tough coaching style. It was hard at times, be we knew she was always trying to make us better and had the best intention at heart. Due to this, we got to play for state, and it wouldn’t have been possible without her.”
Mrs. Hoener grew up in New Haven and graduated from NHHS in 1995. She played volleyball and softball while attending New Haven High School. In volleyball, she was all-conference, all-area, and all-state.
Fun fact: You can find Mrs. Hoener on the championship wall; her volleyball team won state in 1992.
She then went on to Southwest Missouri State (now called Missouri State) and majored in secondary math education. Mrs. Hoener graduated from college in December 1999.
In her free time, Mrs. Hoener likes to watch sports and look at pretty flowers. When asked why she wanted to work at NHHS she said, “It’s the best place around!”
Her favorite things about New Haven include the fact that the community is small and that the people are hard workers. Some of Mrs. Hoener’s pet peeves include dirty things (especially her white board) and cheating.
If you didn’t already know, Mrs. Hoener is married to NHHS principal, Mr. Josh Hoener. They met when Mrs. Hoener was doing her student teaching at Owensville, and Mr. Hoener taught in the classroom next to her.
If that wasn’t enough facts about Mrs. Hoener, here are a few of her favorite things. Her favorite TV show is Ally McBeal, her favorite movie is Hoosiers, her favorite song is “Gold Digger,” and her favorite food is pizza.
Thank you, Mrs. Hoener, for being a positive role model and inspiring others at NHHS!
