The future is uncertain, but for the seniors of NHHS, future-planning is starting. In just a few months they will be going off to college, the military, or straight to the workforce. For most, college is the biggest subject on their minds.
When the seniors were asked what their plans were after high school, 88.9% said college and 11.1% said military (when given the options of college, trade school, workforce, or military).
The students who planned on going to college were asked if they have applied yet. 55.6% said yes and 44.4% said no. Many of them applied early in order to get discounts on the application fees or get early scholarship consideration.
The seniors who have already applied were asked where they have applied. Morgan Branson and McKenzie Overschmidt said they have applied to ECC. Destinee Deener and Morgan Branson have both applied to Missouri State. Natalie Pecaut said she has applied to “UCM and SEMO”.
When asked if they have gotten any responses yet, everyone said no except for McKenzie Overschmidt, who said, “Yes, I got responses from East Central College. I got accepted.”
When asked Would you say the college application and acceptance process is exciting or stressful? Why? Johnna Bloch said, “Very stressful, that's why I have not finished them yet. I also have no idea where I want to go for sure.”
Natalie Pecaut said, “It wasn’t really exciting or stressful, or at least it wasn't for me. I just took time to fill out all the forms. I’m such a procrastinator, so it took me some time just to finish them.”
McKenzie Overschmidt said, “It was easy and fast because there wasn't much to the application.”
Good luck to everyone who has applied, as well as to those who haven’t yet. You got this!
