Day 3
We woke up this morning around 7 o’clock, and our first stop of the day was at the Monticello. We arrived there around 8:40 in the morning and were there until 11 am. Our next destination was Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington, in Virginia! From there, we ventured off to Washington D.C., where we stopped and toured Arlington cemetery and watched the changing of the guards. After Arlington cemetery, we hit the town in search for some yummy food! Around 8:00, the seniors headed to their hotel for the night.
Today was a very exciting day for us!! While some students explored the city, others toured the White House. Following the White House, the seniors visited many memorials including the Vietnam War Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, MLK memorial, and the World War II memorial. After visiting the memorials, the seniors visited the many Smithsonian buildings! Around 5:00, we visited Thomas Jefferson’s memorial and Iwo Jima. At about 7:30, we ended our day at the Peking Gourmet Inn, which is a restaurant tradition for those who attend Senior Trip.
