And we’re off again! This morning we left the hotel around 7:30 and drove about an hour to Asheville, North Carolina to the Biltmore! As we pulled up to the gates everyone’s jaws dropped in awe of the beautiful estate. Once inside, we went on about an hour tour through the house where we saw the living quarters, library, bowling alley, swimming pool, and much more. After the tour we walked outside, opened our umbrellas, and viewed the gardens and green houses. Some of us hiked down a trail to see the bass pond and waterfall. We then boarded back onto the bus and began our six hour drive to the University of Virginia's campus. This campus dates back to 1819 and is the first University to be centered around a library, rather than a church. President Thomas Jefferson is responsible for its design, which we will learn all about him and his history on Monday as we will drive to Monticello and visit his home. Today we drove about 450 miles!
