Oscar E. Birkmann, Jr., 81, of New Haven, MO, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at his home. Oscar was born at the home in New Haven, on June 15, 1936, a son of the late Oscar Sr. & Mathilda (Gerlemann) Birkmann. He was the husband of Wretha (Pruessner) Birkmann. They were united in marriage on March 24, 1954, in Labadie, Missouri. Wretha survives him at the home. Oscar is also survived by their three daughters, Diane Kleinheider & husband Kevin, of New Haven, Rhonda Chwascinski & husband Duane, of New Haven, and Linda Crowe & husband James, of Hermann, by nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, by three brothers, Milford, Elmer, & Herbert Birkmann, and by two sisters, Viola Brautigam and Hulda Birkmann. Oscar started his working career at Meerschaum Pipe Factory, in Washington, Missouri. He later went to work for Kellwood, which became American Recreation Products. He worked there for over 40 years as a forklift operator, where he never missed a day of work. He also farmed. In his free time Oscar enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren, going hunting and fishing, and also taking Wretha on chuck wagon rides. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 11th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Tom Lloyd officiating. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery, Stony Hill, Missouri. Memorials may be given to the cemetery C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home. |
