On April 7th at approximately 4:05 PM, deputies were dispatched to the 4000 block of Hwy. V in Villa Ridge in reference to a peace disturbance involving an intoxicated female. The reporting party stated that they believed they may have heard a gunshot.
Upon arrival deputies found that the female suspect had locked her door and was refusing entry stating she believed it was her landlord. Deputies verified to the suspect that they were not the landlord by having her call the sheriff’s office; however, she continued to deny entry.
The identity of the female was made and it was determined that there was a warrant for her arrest. Deputies obtained a key and made entry to the residence. While searching the apartment deputies found a locked bedroom door with the suspect inside. The suspect stated that she knew there were warrants for her arrest and was not going to open the door.
Deputies forced entry to the room and found the suspect holding a handgun pointed at deputies. One deputy had his Taser drawn. He immediately deployed the cartridge striking the suspect at which time she dropped the handgun and fell to the floor. Deputies recovered the weapon from the floor loaded with the hammer pulled back.
The female was taken in to custody for the active warrant, DWI aggravated offense with a $25,000 bond, and investigation of assault 2nd on law enforcement, and unlawful use of a weapon. She is identified as a white female, age 54 from Villa Ridge.
