Wilbert W. Scheer passed away Saturday at St. John's Mercy hospital, Washington, Missouri, at the age of 91. Wilbert was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Betty Scheer. Wilbert is survived by a son Ronald Scheer of St. Charles, a daughter Sally Leniger and husband John of Robertsville, MO., a son Clifton Scheer and wife Sheryl of New Haven, MO., a grandson Tony Brune and wife Coleah of Washington, MO. and a great grandson Owen Brune also of Washington, MO. Wilbert was also preceded in death by two sons Eugene and Joe Scheer and a sister Ruth A. Scheer. Mr Scheer was a man like so many who stood up to life's challenges. When his country needed him he stood up proudly and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he took on the challenges of his family the best way he knew how, by farming the family farm, being born and living his entire life of 91 years there. He served his church in many ways. So much so that it was said of Wilbert," if the church lights were on he was there". Mr. Scheer's visitation will be Monday January 2, from 4-8 P.M. at the Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, MO. American Legion service will be at 7:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 3, at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, New Haven, MO. Burial will follow at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Donations may be given care of the Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church or New Haven American Legion. |
