On Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019, the NHHS Track and Field team traveled to Owensville to compete in various events. Owensville, Helias Catholic, Sullivan, Cuba, and New Haven participated in the meet. The Boys Varsity team placed 5th, and the Girls Varsity placed 3rd. This was one of their last practice meets, so the athletes will now move into medal meets fairly soon. The athletes were then asked a few questions about their meet.
The first question asked was how the athletes felt they competed. Junior Grace Allgaier said, “I did not feel good that day, but I got 12 feet in the long jump, which was a PR for me.”
Sophomore Emilee Hinten simply replied, “I felt like I did pretty [well].”
The athletes were then asked if there is anything they feel they need to work on. Sophomore Hannah Rethemeyer answered, “Getting my time in the 4x8 relay to a faster time.”
Sophomore Caroline Otten replied, “Working on my stride in the 2 mile and fixing my form so I’m not so stiff when running.”
The last question asked was if there are any goals they have set for themselves this season. Sophomore Ellie Westermeyer said, “Be the top thrower in all three throwing events.”
Junior Grace Allgaier answered, “My goal is to get at least 13 feet in the long jump and get my time for an 800 back to what it used to be.”
Sophomore Emilee Hinten expressed, “Yes, I want to get my 100 meter time faster.”
Keep up the hard work, Shamrocks, and good luck in your upcoming meets and the rest of your season!
