In front of a packed gym Friday night, our Shamrock JV and varsity boys’ teams both picked up hard-fought wins over the Russellville Indians. After the junior varsity won by a score of 60-20, our Winter Coronation ceremony was held. Senior Zack Vedder and junior Lauren Gerlemann were crowned as our 2016 Winter Ball king and queen.
When Zack was asked how he felt about being named king, he quoted, “I think it's pretty neat to win king. It was really nice to even be voted as the candidate and with it being my senior year makes it pretty special, especially since we won the game after coronation. It was a pretty fun experience.”
When Lauren was asked about becoming queen, she stated, “I felt honored to be queen. I was surprised, because I thought all the candidates had just as much potential to win. They are all wonderful.”
The varsity then followed up with a 44-40 victory. In the varsity game, senior Zack Vedder led the team in scoring with 16 points and also grabbed 4 rebounds. Fellow senior Justin Shockley also grabbed 4 rebounds, along with 8 points.
Currently, the Shamrocks’ record stands at 3 wins and 3 losses as they begin Four Rivers Conference play at Pacific on Friday. Congrats to Lauren and Zack, and nice wins, boys!
