By: Diana Ribera On April 29, 2017, New Haven hosted prom for juniors and seniors along with their dates. Prom lasted from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M. and the theme was “Red Carpet.” Many that attended got ready at people's houses so they could take pictures there as well. At 2:00 P.M., many people went downtown New Haven at the riverfront to get their prom pictures taken. Those that danced the night away had this to say when they were asked how they felt about prom: Olivia Williams, a sophomore, said, “It was fun. I liked dancing with all my friends. It was fun to dress up and everyone looked so pretty.” Ethan Groner, a sophomore, answered, “I thought it was fun. I also thought that there were more slow songs than last year. Lastly, I thought eating at the Melting Pot was unique.” Many students were asked what their favorite part of prom was, and Kamryn Poe answered, “My favorite part was spending time with friends while dancing the night away. It was a blast!” Brady Kruse, senior, said, “I loved the theme because I'm a huge movie nerd. The decorations were very well done, and the red carpet was an especially nice touch.” Travis Schroeder, a sophomore, responded with, “My favorite part was hanging out with friends and goofing off a bit. Especially dancing.” Around 10:45 P.M., they announced the winners of Prom King and Queen. The winners this year were Riley Otten and Nichole Zeitzmann. Former king and queen were Jenny Alvarez and Jared Horstman. Nichole, a senior, was asked how she felt about winning and she responded with, “Being Prom Queen was very exciting and I can't wait to come back next year and retire as queen.” Riley, a senior, was also asked the same question and he said, “Pretty cool, I guess. I got a 2-liter of Mountain Dew out of it so that was nice.” Congratulations to the new Prom King and Queen. Thank you to all those who helped set up the prom decorations and the staff that helped in prom. | |
