“Hey, batter, batter, hey, batter, batter swing….” That’s exactly what the New Haven softball team plans to do this year. They are planning to run bases around the competition and steal their way to the top.
The New Haven softball team is made up of 17 players and are coached by Coach Tim Scheer and Coach Doug Peirick. This year, many of the Shamrocks are getting back into the groove, whereas some of the girls are adjusting to new positions.
When asked about how they think they are doing this year, Claire Laune said this: “I think we are looking pretty good!”
Alexis Sidwell made this comment: “I think we could use a lot of work, but I know we have some great potential and players!”
Julia Unnerstall, senior, also had more to add, “I think we will do great as the season goes on! I see a lot of improvement and wins in the future!”
The team has already played a few games and are improving fast. Softball has so many things to look forward to. One of the things the ladies are looking forward to is “...growing as a player and as a team and seeing how well we can do this season being in a new class,” Alexis put best.
“My favorite moment so far [was] at the St. Clair [game] when Brooke bare-handed a ball thrown to her at first!” Julia Unnerstall exclaimed.
Olivia Williams, senior, replied, “I am honestly just trying to savor every moment this year. I am truly enjoying every minute. I know that in a month, softball will be all over and I'm going to miss it so much.”
The New Haven softball team has plenty of games ahead of them in the future. They plan to “hit it out of the park” and score big. Good luck, ladies.
