 | By Rachel Connell On October 16-17, the New Haven Marching Shamrocks will be given the privilege to travel to Missouri State University and perform in the Homecoming Parade. The band director, Mandy Koch, states that this trip will be a “fun and new experience for our band” The marching band will leave for Springfield on a Friday since the journey is a 3 hour drive, and they will spend the night at the Comfort Inn Hotel. Parents are welcome to join in on this exciting trip if their student is involved in the New Haven marching band. |
Parade day will begin bright and early, as the band will need warm-up time to prepare for the performance. Missouri State University’s Homecoming parade is an impressive event during which Bears fans join together to celebrate all things maroon and white. Carolyn Allgaier, a flute player in the high school marching band, states “I’m excited, but I’m also really nervous about the performance.”
Mrs. Koch says, “This new atmosphere will offer the band members a chance to test their responsibility as they will get a chance to hear some critique that is different from what we gather in our area.” After the homecoming parade on Saturday morning, the band will have the privilege to attend the MSU Homecoming football game vs. Illinois State University.
The New Haven Marching Shamrocks are working hard this season so that they can be successful during the MSU Homecoming Parade, as well as every other competition this season.
