On Saturday, September 26th, the New Haven Marching Band traveled to Sullivan, Missouri to attend the 28th annual Sullivan Marching Festival.
The Sullivan Marching Festival features a morning parade and an afternoon field competition where marching bands from around the area come to compete. During the morning parade, bands are separated into classes or groups in which they will compete against one another to win either first, second, or third place. The bands can also score captions for best drumline, auxiliary, and drum major.
The Marching Band doesn’t see this as a loss, though. The band as a whole achieved some of the goals for the season, such as scoring higher than last year in music. The music score was a 90. This was an incredible achievement because bands don’t usually see a such high score at the beginning of the season. The band is keeping their head held high with great expectations of the next competition in Washington this Saturday, October 3rd. There can only be only improvement from here!
