Mr. Carey, the JV head coach, was with the varsity volleyball team at SEMO helping Mrs. Hoener. Ms. Bailey and Coach Speckhals took over and coached the team. Our managers helped out Ms. Bailey and Coach Speckhals. Colter Wilson was the full-time line judge. Julie Moeckli kept records in the score book. When asked how the girls played, Ms. Bailey responded with, “I thought the girls played phenomenal. I loved how they played together and worked as team.”
Emma Engelbrecht got an awesome slide in the championship game. Emma said, “It felt great! It was the best feeling in the world! Bracket play began with a game against Sullivan. After New Haven won their game against Sullivan, they moved on to play St. Clair in the championship game for first place. There were two games going on in one gym at the same time. The gym was loud and bursting with excitement for the championship game while the third place game was going on on the other side of the gym. Winning in two sets, New Haven took first, bringing home yet another first place plaque. This is the third year in a row that New Haven took first in the Pacific JV volleyball tournament. -by Kathleen Jasper
