With football season having started on September 6, 2018, a survey was sent out to gauge New Haven High’s opinions on football.
When asked about their favorite teams, many said the same teams. The top teams were:
When it comes to the fantasy football side of the game, only 80% of those surveyed said they participate.
Over half of those who participated in the poll watch football at least once a week; however, 48% watch games daily, whether it be NFL or college level teams. And still, there are those few that only watch the Super Bowl.
There are many different reasons to like football. Some like it for the strategy, some like the teams, and some like the family time; however, there are some students that have less common reasons for liking the sport.
For example, junior Brandon Young mentioned liking the time spent with family and friends, but that he also enjoyed seeing the players risk getting hurt for money.
Martin Lewis, senior, had another reason not many others shared. He said, “It’s exciting seeing what the human body can do.”
Nonetheless, there are some who prefer not to watch football-- or at least not the NFL. Many don’t agree with the kneeling many of the NFL players have done in the past. Most of the students who reported not watching the NFL for this reason have said they still enjoy watching college football, and even high school football.
As you can see, there are many different opinions on the upcoming season. Best of luck to all of your teams. Let it be a good season!
