The Shamrocks 8th grade team slaughtered Sullivan on Monday, October 9th, with a score of 44-14. The girls where the #1 seed in the tournament. The two leading scorers of the game were Peyton Sumpter with 9 points and Brenna Langenburg with 8. The girls played a very clean defensive game, only getting 3 fouls the whole game. They held Sullivan to 0 points in the first quarter and only 4 in the first half.
On Tuesday, October 10th, the team played St. James, who they beat 42-40 earlier in the year. The Shamrock girls ended up winning 35-25. The girls got off to a hot start leading 15-6 in the first quarter. They held their lead going into the second quarter when they led 22-12. They kept their lead for the rest of the game when the final buzzer and rang and they won 35-25.The two seventh graders, Brenna Langenburg and Jessica Underwood, had 10 points and 12 points respectively, with Jessica leading the scoring for the night.
The girls then played Owensville on Thursday, October 12th for the Championship title. It was a rematch of the Washington Tournament where they beat Owensville to win the championship. New Haven ended up losing the game 26-13. Although we played hard all tournament, their run was stopped by the dominate Owensville Dutchgirls. The Shamrocks have a rematch against the Dutchgirls on October 24th in Owensville. Hopefully the team can win that game and win the 3 game set this year.
