Love is in the Air

2/27/2015

Valentines Day, the busiest day for chocolate stores, flower shops, and apparently, New Haven Elementary School. Do you remember your elementary school Valentine’s Day parties? Well, the kids from New Haven Elementary school really enjoyed their parties this year with cute boxes for their valentines, games, food, and parents visiting the kids. Altogether, the children had a blast! This also came along with a sugar rush.
Mrs. Englebrecht's kindergarten class started their party by passing out valentines and candy. “They were all so excited!” Lilly said, “I love Valentines Day and all the candy!” As the class took turns giving and receiving valentines, their teacher started preparing the food and drinks. Zoey Schwab was super excited about the cupcakes she brought in. “My favorite are the chocolate ones,” said Zoey. Taylor Scheer and her mom brought in chocolate covered strawberries, apples, and juice. There were also cookies, rice krispies, and candy.

After they ate all their treats, it was time for games! Taylor’s mom, Terri, brought the game “Pin the Heart on the Heart.” The goal of the game was to get the little heart pinned onto the larger heart. The catch is, the students were blindfolded and then spun around by Terri. All the kids were right on or very close to the heart! “ I just kept spinning around, and around,” says Morgan.

Many other classes in the elementary enjoyed their parties too. Third grader Adison Gale said, “Our party was so fun, and we got candy; best day at school ever!” They enjoyed playing games and talking to their friends. The sixth graders enjoyed their last Valentines day party.

The students were on a sugar high and loved every second of it. They enjoyed their laid-back party day with their friends. To put an end to the day, the kids cleaned up and ran to the gym to enjoy a long recess! Wouldn’t you love to be in elementary school again?
