Little League Festivities Kick off This Weekend

The New Haven Youth League has made  a lot of changes to their program this year.  The biggest one is that the New Haven High School Softball team has a team within the league.  Coaches of this team are all former New Haven Softball Players. The head Coach will be Julie Scheer,  and her assistants include Kayla Oetterer, Kierstin Monzyk, and Erin Grannemann.

Last year, seven motivated parents  took over the New Haven Youth League.  They had 197 kids in the league last year  and have 260 signed up this year,  which is  over a thirty percent increase.  They have incorporated many new ideas in 2014 and this year.  In 2014, they had their first-ever Softball Pitching Clinic and T-Ball Extravaganza.  This year, they had a softball coaches’ clinic.  Upcoming events include a Baseball Skills Clinic with Jack Clark on May 9th, the Opening Day Event, May 16th, a Softball Camp for 4th – 7th graders on May 30th and 31st, and a high school softball camp and on June 7th.

On May 16th, 2015, the New Haven Youth League is having a game day opener. Most of the teams within the league will play another New Haven team in within their division that day.  Also, there will be a bounce house for the little kids, a BBQ, a used equipment swap, and the league will be selling Opening Day T-Shirts.  Also, at midday NHHS sophomore Anna Miller will sing the National Anthem.
