During the meeting, the coaches, Mrs. Engelbrecht and Mrs. Munsinger, discussed many aspects of being a cheerleader. First, they went over the uniforms and shoes. They said that the uniform alone was three hundred dollars! But, they mentioned that they had many fundraising ideas to help pay for the uniforms. Second, they went over general rules, such as behaving at games, being on time, and always setting a good example for the school. Lastly, they told the cheerleaders to have fun cheering and to always keep the school spirit up.
When Luna, a foreign exchange student from Italy, was asked what she thought cheerleading would be like, she stated, “I think cheerleading will be fun, exciting, and difficult, but I am excited to work with and know more about the other cheerleaders.” When asked why she chose to do it, she said, “Well, we don’t have cheerleading in Italy, so its very uncommon for us. I thought it would be fun to experience what it would be like to be a cheerleader.”
In conclusion, the cheerleaders learned about what’s expected from them and are ready to start a cheerleading season. -by Jennifer Alvarez
