Kruse Awarded Youth Citizen of the Year Award

4/17/2015

This year, Hannah Kruse has been awarded the New Haven Chamber Of Commerce Youth Citizen of The Year award. The New Haven Chamber Of Commerce Youth Citizen of The Year award is granted every year to one student who does well academically and is involved in the community. Hannah was quite surprised when she received the award. “It was a huge honor and a bit of a shock!” Hannah exclaimed.
Mr. Hoener stated that Hannah Kruse is deserving of this award,”Hannah is a successful student, showing involvement in the community and hard work in her academics.” Hannah has many  accomplishments, including a 34 ACT score, National Merit Finalist, top 100 Scholar in Missouri, and completing  in 3 sports every year of high school, including cross country, basketball, and track.

Although Hannah is quite busy, she also has hobbies she tries to keep up with. “In what little down time I have, I enjoy running, reading, hanging out with my friends, and watching movies with my dog Elsa,” she announced. Hannah may be a very active in both her community and academics, but she still tries to give herself some time to relax.

Hannah Kruse, the daughter of Kyle and Dena Kruse, is a student at New Haven High and has lived in New Haven for 11 years. She is involved in an abundant amount of sports and clubs, such as cross country, basketball, track, scholar bowl, band, Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and National Honor Society..

She currently holds two jobs, one at the New Haven Vet Clinic and one at Paradise Frozen Custard. Hannah is also involved with numerous volunteer activities, such as refereeing and working the concession stand at Upwards basketball, and she tutored for the A+ Program during summer school. Hannah also organized the first-ever Sunset on Sunset 5K, which had 141 participants and raised over $2,000 for a medical mission in Ghana. The 2nd annual Sunset on Sunset 5k will be held on July 26, 2015.

Next January, she plans to go to  Ghana and work in a surgical unit at the Yendi Hospital. After high school, Hannah plans to attend Mississippi State University as an Animal and Dairy Science Major with pre-acceptance into the College of Veterinary Medicine.
