Kenzy was asked what she was most worried about. She answered, “Falling! Right before we walked down, Kirby Menke said he would pay Kyle ten dollars to push me down! But he was wonderful and even helped me up the stairs.”
Following all of the candidates were, of course, the flower girl, Sammy Fleer, and the crown bearer, Blake Vedder. While watching little kids walk down together is very cute, Blake made it even cuter by running off and leaving Sammy. The last group to walk down was the retiring king and queen. The retiring king was JR Conner, and the retiring queen was Kamilla Magnusen. Kamilla was also a foreign exchange student from Norway, so she was unable to be there to hand off her crown. Hannah Kruse stepped in and took her place.
The King and Queen of the 2014 Winter Ball were Kyle Ruediger and Kashaf Iqbal. JR gave Kyle a crown, while Hannah gave Kashaf one also. When asked if he expected to be crowned king, Kyle responded by saying, “I didn’t know if I would or not. Just depended on how many votes I would receive.”
When Kashaf was asked how it felt to be named queen, she answered with, “...I got thousands of hugs from my friends and everyone, all of my school fellows were happy and shouting with happiness that almost made me cry… When Hannah crowned me, I asked if I could keep it. She was like ‘Of course!’”
Following the coronation was the varsity game. During the varsity game Kyle Ruediger scored his 1,000th point of his high school basketball career. After the game the cafeteria was set up, and the students all danced the night away!
