This year the team hasn’t won every set, so there have been a few nail-biting games, one of which was the game against Borgia. The game went into three sets, and overall, several of the freshmen players agreed this was because the team was very disorganized during that game. Although there was a struggle, the New Haven girls still walked off of the court with a victory.
Not only do they practice hard, the team has been playing together for years, which comes to their advantage. Emma Englebrecht commented, “I think our biggest thing is that the freshmen have played together for years and have developed very strong relationships with each other, and we know how to play well with each other. Also, we all share the same goals and desire to win!”
This unique team bond has been accumulated through Friday nights at the Walt, cheering for their upperclassmen, and on long bus rides to games. LeeAnna Linton exclaimed, “I feel like we have a bond that no other teams have! We all really love what we do and who we play the game with!”
To conclude, these girls have grown together as a team and built friendships and a love for the game. This team is not willing to give up on the court and plan on continuing their hard work and dedication. Shamrock fans are excited to see what the up and coming junior varsity team has to offer in the next few years!
