Over the past several weeks Franklin County Patrol Deputies and Detectives have responded to and investigated several residential and business burglaries in the St. Clair and Lonedell areas of the County. The victims include Triple H Storage in Lonedell, Jim Trenary Motor Sports in Washington and numerous private Franklin county citizens. So far approximately 9 different cases have been associated to the suspect and many thousands of dollars’ worth of property, firearms, and vehicles had been recovered.
The suspect, identified as Steven D. Stotts Jr., was identified, arrested, and later confessed to these crimes. Initial charges of burglary and stealing of a motor vehicle were applied for and granted. A bond of $25,000 was issued and served to Mr. Stotts, with several other felony charges still pending in this county and in multiple other jurisdictions.
The Sheriff’s Office would also like to give special thanks the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Clair Police Department for their assistance in these investigations. Their hard work, along with an observant citizen who first notified this Sheriff’s Office of suspicious activity, via our Facebook page, made the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspect possible. Their assistance also helped recover much of the stolen property. We deeply thank all involved in the positive outcome of these unfortunate incidents.
