FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF PRESS RELEASE

On April 10, at approximately 8:20 PM, deputies responded to Timber Trail Dr. and Whisky Creek Rd. for a report of shots fired.  The reporting party advised that a male subject fired a weapon at people at their location, possibly two shots. The caller reported that the suspect had left the scene and gave a description of the vehicle.
The victims stated that the altercation began at a store in the city of Union.  They advised that the suspect pulled in the parking lot and pointed a handgun at them.  The victims then drove off.  The altercation then led to a residence at Timber Trail and Whisky Creek Road.   Allegedly, conversations between the two parties were that they come to the residence to settle an argument.  When the suspect arrived at the residence. the victim stated that the suspect fired two shots at him and his wife.
 
Deputies began checking the area and located the suspect vehicle traveling near Whiskey Creek Road and Cedar Lane.  The suspect/driver and two other occupants, male and female, were found in the vehicle during the traffic stop along with a 4-year old female. 
 
When asked about the shooting the driver of the vehicle stated that the reporting party had shot at him.  He stated that the weapon was in the glove box but later denied having a gun nor did he see one.  The female passenger/vehicle owner, granted deputies permission to search.  Deputies located a substance believed to be methamphetamine and a 45 Cal. Ruger handgun in the vehicle.  The handgun was reported stolen from the city of Union.
 
The investigation is ongoing to determine the reason for the altercation.  The driver of the vehicle was taken in to custody for investigation of assault second, endangering the welfare of a child, and narcotics violations.  He is a 24-year old white male from Leslie.
 
 
The Sheriff’s Office investigated what are believed to be three heroin overdoses this weekend.  One was a 32-year old male west of Washington.   Second a 22-year old male who was dropped off at St. Clair Ambulance coming from outside of St. Clair, and the third was a 26-year old male from the Catawissa area.  He was found deceased by family members.  The above two cases survived as of this release.
