FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF PRESS RELEASE

3/30/2016

MARCH 30, 2016

On March 29, at approximately 10:00 PM, deputies responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping that occurred on Parkway Drive near Hwy 30.  The 25-year old female victim stated that she was walking east on Parkway Drive toward Highway 30 when an older model blue in color Ford F-150 truck passed her going the opposite direction.  She stated the truck turned around and began coming back towards her stopping alongside.   She stated that the male slid across the seat, opened the door and grabbed her left arm, attempting to pull her into the vehicle.  She then pulled away and began running toward Mount Zion Church. The victim stated that the vehicle attempted to follow her but the motor kept dying. The driver then drove away.

A dispatch was given of the vehicle.  A short time later St. Clair Police stated that they had located the vehicle behind the Super 8 Motel in St. Clair with the driver still inside.

The driver, a 29-year old white male from St. Clair, was taken in to custody for investigation of attempted kidnapping.  The suspect admitted making contact with the victim but stated he did not attempt to grab her. He was only attempting to see if she was okay, but she didn’t answer him the first time he asked. He then turned around and went back to ask her again, at which time she stated she was okay. He stated that his vehicle motor kept dying.  He then drove to the parking lot of Super 8. Further investigation is being conducted.

At around 12:15 PM, on this date deputies responded to the 6000 block of Rainbow Ridge off Hwy A in reference to a domestic. Upon arrival, deputies were informed that the father of a female at the residence had gotten in to an argument with her boyfriend. The argument went outside where the boyfriend got in to a vehicle.  As the vehicle left, the father was struck, causing injury. He was transported to Mercy Hospital in Washington.  A short time later, Washington Police advised that they were currently with the boyfriend at the Washington Police Department who was reporting the incident, stating he may have struck his girlfriend’s father. The boyfriend was taken in to custody for investigation of assault.  No charges have been filed as of this release. Union Police also assisted in reconstructing the scene.
