Sometimes, we all just need something to help get us through the school day. As hard as we try to be mentally and physically prepared for the day, sometimes it is not easy--perhaps you just didn’t sleep well. Well, no matter what the cause of your fatigue may be, here are five ways that might improve your day from the start, no matter how rough that start may be sometimes.
Some people eat the same things everyday for breakfast, while others try to mix things up.
Ms. Kelly says, “I eat oatmeal with blueberries every morning because it is healthy and it keeps me full throughout the day.
Jared Horstmann says, “I have almost a set plan, which I do every day. I wake up, then eat a bowl of cereal.”
On the other hand, senior Ereka Bailey likes to mix things up. “I will eat cereal one day and then waffles the next. Sometimes, if I am in a rush, I will just grab a granola bar.”
Second, enjoying a coffee or other drinks with your breakfast can be helpful. Coffee can help increase alertness and is certainly known to help a person wake up. There are misconceptions about coffee--some say it stunts growth or is not healthy, but most of these conceptions have been proven to be untrue.
In fact, according to Authority Nutrition, many studies have shown that there are several health benefits to the drink.
Such benefits include improved short term memory, faster metabolism and even prevention of certain types of cancer.
On the other hand, it is understandable that some people are not coffee people and prefer tea or something else in the morning. Even tea can help increase alertness and help get people through the day.
Whether you’re a coffee or tea person, drink up--it will help.
Clare Roth claims, “I drink 3 cups of coffee”.
Next: fresh air. Even though it may be cold outside, it is still important to get some fresh air in the morning. Stepping outside can really give you that jolt of energy you need to keep you awake, especially with the brisk air that we tend to have at this time in the year.
Since it is cold out, be sure to bundle up.
Next, it can be helpful to check your Chromebooks for emails or notifications. This is very important because a lot of us sometimes forget to do this and are then surprised by events that occur during the day. Why be caught off guard?
After you have done all of this, one last thing is important: be social when you arrive at school. Socializing is a great way to start your day; speaking to friends or just anyone in general is nice.
A good conversation is a great way to finish your morning preparations.
Brooke Bockting said “I usually fill my water bottle, go to the gym, and hang out with friends.”
Some people use other methods to help wake up.
Abigail Perdue says, “In the mornings I love to get up and turn up my stereo. I listen to Panic! At the Disco and crank it!“
Taylor Gillespie said “I like to get up and avoid the mirror as much as possible. Then, I get squeaky clean, and I never leave the house until my brows are on."
When you wake in the morning, consider some of the things listed here, or even integrate all of them into your morning routine.
Either way, enjoy your day!
