On Thursday, October 22nd, New Haven schools had a half day. During the afternoon, the school’s FBLA raked 16 yards around town. There are over 160 students in this organization who were split into 6 different groups. Each group raked an average of 3 yards. On average, each group finished raking their yards within an hour and a half. This time included raking, filling up the trucks with leaves, and then taking the leaves to the dump.
“Drive by raking was a good time. There aren't a whole lot of opportunities for friends to get together and perform some community service,” Jonathan Stone excitedly said. This is due to the fact that students have only a few days off from school which limits the opportunities for students come and work together as a whole. Drive By Raking went very well and everyone seemed to have a positive attitude about it.
The owner’s of each yard were very thankful for FBLA’s teamwork and help. Thank you to Mrs. Frick for the delicious cookies afterwards! Everyone loved them.
