Throughout almost four years at New Haven High School, the seniors have made a lot of memories. Some of the seniors have serious memories that they look back on, while others are on the sillier side.
Alison Long stated, “My favorite high school memory was when the fire alarm sounded and we had to evacuate the high school right after the NHS induction ceremony. I had just sat down to eat my piece of cake and the alarm began to go off. ‘Really, Mr. Kruse? It is not really the best time for a fire drill’, I thought to myself. But in reality, smoke was filling the middle school hallways. We sat waiting at the Baptist church until Mr. Hoener entered and told us that the entire building was burned to the ground. He was joking of course and stated that everything was okay. We made our way back to the high school, singing our school’s alma mater when we got to the sign. It was eventful and incredibly memorable.”
Zack Vedder said, “Breaking both of my wrists at the same time, then getting 8 stitches in my middle finger while I had the two broken wrists.”
Brady Kruse pronounced, “Winning 3rd place at state and breaking the school record in the 4x400 was pretty cool last year.”
Kate Weiser stated, “I love the start of each year. Everyone realizes how much they have missed each other and have so many summer adventures to tell. For me, it is time when I have a light homework load, no practice, and the weather is still perfect for summer activities. My favorite event around this time is swimming intramurals. I love to show off my swimming skills and have my whole class cheering behind me! The publication photographers always get fun, action pictures and video for the yearbook. I enjoyed having a relay all four years and always succeeding in the butterfly. I remember designing and making matching team t-shirts each year after class. I am really going to truly miss moments like these!”
Matthew Fitts said, “My favorite high school memory is the final Leadership week celebration in the gym because it was an awesome high school memory in my life.”
Carolyn Allgaier pronounced, “My favorite high school moment would have to be from one of the MSU band-major-for-a-day trips. I had gotten to talk to the head flute professor from there, and in turn, she let me play the school's contrabass flute, which just happened to be taller than I am.”
Lucy Roth stated, “The most memorable moment from the past 4 years was winning 3rd place in State for Cross Country. Coach Tucker never had a team win, so it was exciting winning it for him. When we found out we had won, we were all so proud, happy, and energetic. Holding the trophy with Emily and the rest of the girls was so much fun.”
Nicki Zeitzmann stated, “My favorite high school memory is becoming a state champion in the 4x400 my sophomore year in track.”
Lastly, Will Soete pronounced, “My favorite memory is beating Sullivan on basketball senior night my sophomore year.”
With only a few more months left of high school, the seniors of New Haven have a lot of memories to reflect on that they will cherish.
