Doodle 4 Google is an art-- or doodle-- contest held every year by Google. The contest started here in the United States in 2008, and has continued annually ever since. Mrs. Borcherding now offers the contest to her art students. This year’s theme is “What inspires you.”
The contest allows anyone K through 12 to compete. However, there are some rules and guidelines. You can find these on the official Doodle 4 Google website: https://doodles.google.com/d4g/rules.html.
Although there are some rules to follow, you still have lots of artistic freedom. Your doodle can be done in any medium! You can create anything that fits the theme, as long as you do not portray any illegal or unlawful activities or anything that is not yours, such as logos.
Let’s talk prizes-- the thing most people are really interested in. There are three different prize brackets-- state and territory, national finalists, and national winner.
For the state and territory winners, each winner will receive Google Swag, Google Hardware, and a special celebration.
The national finalists will be rewarded with Google Swag, Google Hardware, a trip to the Google headquarters in California, and... a 5,000 dollar college scholarship!
The national winner will get their doodle transferred into an interactive experience on Google.com with help from the official Doodle team. The winner will also receive Google Swag and Hardware, along with a trip to the Google headquarters. Further, the student will get a 30,000 dollar college scholarship and a 50,000 dollar technology package for their school or non-profit organization.
All winning Doodles will be featured in the Doodle 4 Google gallery.
The deadline for this competition is coming up fast-- March 2nd at 10:00 P.M. Hurry to get your doodles done and see Mrs. Borcherding or check the official doodle website to see how to submit your work.
