Each group made roughly 24 cookies, and there were four people to each group. Each person was responsible for bringing in some of the ingredients needed to bake cookies, and each group split up their cookies among the members. Junior Jon Stone enjoyed making these cookies: “It was a great time being with my classmates and baking with them, and all around, it was a good time. I would really recommend taking Chemistry, not just because of this, but also because you have fun times like this all the time in the classroom.”
Mrs. Oelrichs also discussed the lab: “It was a lab in the materials in the textbook, and it looked like fun, so I decided to try it.” She replied when asked when the lab was started. “It’s a good incentive to get through that chapter. The students enjoyed the lab. It’s one of my favorite labs to do since it reinforces the material, and it allows us to get out of the classroom, and it helps students relate chemistry to everyday life.”
Now the students realize that every time they bake cookies, they are doing chemistry!
