The New Haven Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking entries for this year’s Balloon Festival parade, to be held Saturday, Sept. 26.
The parade has an international theme this year, “Hands Across the Sea.” The Chamber is offering a $250 prize to the entry that best incorporates the parade theme.
All types of entries will be considered, from parade floats to walking church and youth groups to classic cars and other vehicles, etc. The Chamber of Commerce does reserve the right to reject entries that are not suitable for a community parade.
This year’s Parade Grand Marshal is Mary McIntosh, 2015 Ms. Missouri Senior. Other special parade guests are being invited. More information on the final parade lineup will be announced at a later date.
The parade will begin at 1 p.m. Sept. 26 at New Haven Elementary School. The tentative parade route is north on Miller Street to Maiden Lane, west on Maiden to Maupin, south on Maupin to Emmons, west on Emmons to Douglas, south on Douglas to Park Drive, south on Park Drive to New Haven High School.
The parade will end on Park Drive in front of New Haven High School. It is possible the parade route may change due to construction on Miller Street; more information on this will be provided later.
