This year, the boys’ basketball team season came to an end with a 7 to 20 win-loss ratio.
Will Soete, point guard on the team, is a senior this year at New Haven High School. Will was asked how he feels about this being his last season, and he responded with, “Every good thing has to come to an end. It's been a roller coaster ride but I wouldn't ask for it any other way, especially with such great guys.”
Aaron Peirick, coach of the New Haven boys basketball team, was asked what his overall thoughts of the 2017 season are, and he responded with, “I thought that we never stopped fighting or gave in. We definitely had our struggles with injuries or bad plays but we ended up playing some pretty good basketball at the end of the season.”
The boys played 2 games into districts. The Shamrocks started off districts with a win against Crystal City. The resulting game against McKinley brought our boys’ 2017 season to an end with a final score of 35 to 40.
The boys’ basketball team consisted of 6 seniors: Will Soete, Justin Shockley, Mark Senecal, Aaron Penning, Zach Vedder, and Brady Kruse.
With the season coming to an end, the boys who aren't graduating have another season ahead of them next year.
Ethan Groner, a guard on the team, was asked what he expects from his next 2 seasons. He responded: “I expect us to do very well these next two seasons and have a lot of fun; however, this can only be succeeded by working hard this summer and improving as players. I have learned a lot from the juniors and seniors and will never forget the memories.”
