Black Gold finish 2nd at men's fastpitch softball tournament.

For the 3rd time in the last 4 years Black Gold finished 2nd in their own men’s fastpitch softball tournament, held June 24 and June 25 at New Haven City Park.    Scores are below.  Bowen was led by pitcher and leadoff hitter Julian Fernandez who pitched 19 scoreless innings for the tournament.     Thanks to all who came out to play and watch.

Eric Steinbeck winning pitcher.  A strong game by Ben Held at catcher held the Falcons scoreless after the 2ndinning.
Black Gold scored 3 runs in the 1st inning to provide the margin of victory.   Scott Borcherding, Cullen Speckhals, Jake Murphy got things started, Matt Benz finished things off with a double down the left field line.

Eric Steinbeck with the shutout, helped by catcher Terry Coon in the first inning with a great tagout on a play at the plate.
Hitting stars were Speckhals, Keaton Rohlfing, Conner Lane, and Matt Benz 2 for 3.   Great defense at 2nd base by Taylor Cox.
