Bernie Sanders is one of the Democratic front runners for the presidential campaign. He is currently a senator for Vermont. There has been controversy surrounding Sander’s political philosophy, but before you make your mind about Sanders, it is important to understand his viewpoints and goals.
Celesse Smedley states, “I think he would be better than Hillary.”
Sanders is very popular among the younger generation, despite the fact that he is the oldest of all the candidates on both Republican and Democratic sides.
His main group of supporters is the younger generation. He tends to address issues such as income inequality, collage debt, and recreational marijuana. These are all pressing matters that the younger generations are seriously interested in.
Bernie describes himself as a Democratic Socialist; this has sparked much debate but he clearly explains his reasoning behind his stance.
Some people do not trust Bernie physically, due his age. He doesn’t have the strong appearance that most Americans would expect of their leader. Jeremy Mueller expresses his concerns: “He’s too old.”
Bernie often states how he wants to take on Wall Street and private health insurance companies. These have also been some of his strongest opinions.
Many people, including opposing candidate Hillary Clinton, criticize Bernie on his foreign policy or lack thereof. This is one of the repetitive concerns the people have.
Support for Bernie is on the rise, but many people remain undecided. Timothy Pruessner expresses, “Sanders could be better, but I'm not sure yet. Bernie is a heck of a lot better than Trump.”
While there are many different factors in this presidential candidate race, it is certain that Bernie Sanders is one of the most talked about candidates.
