When asked if he had a good first experience coaching the intramurals, Coach Pierick commented, “It went pretty good. I appreciate the timers who were willing to help, and there is nothing I like the most due to the fact it was all great. I already had an idea of what to do from watching Coach Steinhoff do it last year.” Even though Coach Pierick went from shop teacher to P.E. coach , he said, “ I enjoy being a P.E coach because I like being active and being outside with my class.”
Some of the events that occurred at the swimming intramurals included the 50 girls’ freestyle, won by freshman Lauren Gerlemann; the 50 boys’ freestyle, won by junior, Matthew Clines; the 50 girls backstroke, won by senior Hannah Pruessner; the boys 50 backstroke, won by senior Kyle Ruediger; the 4 by 50 free style girls relay, won by the seniors; and the boys relay, won by the freshman. Overall, results were as follows: first place, seniors with fifty-two points; in second place, freshman with thirty-eight points; in third place, juniors with thirty points; and in fourth place, sophomores with twenty-nine points. Even though it was a hot day to be outside, everyone had a splash by the pool. -by Jenny Alvarez
