Friday, March 31, 2017, the 4th grade ended with a 2nd place finish after a night consisting of 4 games. The Shamrocks first played the Union Wildcats and lost 2-0. This followed with a win against the St. Clair Bulldogs, as they beat them 2-0. The Shamrocks proceeded to beat the Owensville Dutchgirls 2-0, leading them to the championship game. Finally, they took Union again to 3 sets, but came up short, losing 1-2.
This is the first time that the Rocks have gotten a 2nd place finish this year, as the past 2 tournaments resulted in 3rd place finishes. They now have a chance to keep improving and bring home a 1st place medal, as their last tournament in Union approaches.
Junior Emily Scheer proclaimed, “This was the first time that I watched the girls play this year, and I would say that they played pretty good. Especially since they played for first.”
Head Coach Trisha Fleer later pronounced, “The girls were excited to play a tournament on their home court. They played with enthusiasm and hoped to bring home their 3rd medal this season, which they ended up doing.”
She continued with, “The girls did a great job serving, communicating, and importantly having fun. They couldn’t quite pull off the 1st place finish, but did bring home a 2nd place medal to be proud of.”
Their last tournament took place Friday, the 7th, at 5 P.M. at Union High School.
