This year’s homecoming candidates are Brooklyn Covington, Taylor Oetterer, Kate Ruediger, Kenzie Bauer, Olivia Williams, Julia McIntyre, Lauren Hoerstkamp and Morgan Branson.
The homecoming game will be Friday, February 3, against the Union Wildcats. The coronation will be in between the junior varsity and varsity games.
Brooklyn and Taylor are the senior homecoming candidates.
Brooklyn Covington is the daughter of John and Amy Covington. She will be escorted by senior Zachary Vedder. Brooklyn is involved in FBLA, FCA, Pep Squad, basketball, volleyball, and the St. Peter’s UCC youth group. Her hobbies include fishing, watching Netflix, and going on road trips with friends. Her future plan is to go to East Central College in the fall. According to Brooklyn, if she could be on any show, Brooklyn would be on “The Magic School Bus”, because Brooklyn and Ms. Frizzle both have frizzy hair.
Taylor Oetterer is the daughter of Mike and Jean Oetterer. She will be escorted by senior Mark Senecal. Taylor is involved in FBLA, FCCLA, FCA, NHS, band, volleyball, and St. Peter’s UCC youth group. Taylor also works at Save-A-Lot and is a coach for fifth grade volleyball. Her hobbies include volleyball, archery, and spending money on unnecessary things with her friends. Her future plan is to go to Missouri State University in the fall and major in psychology. According to Taylor, if she could travel anywhere in the world, she would go to Iceland to see the Northern Lights.
When asked if she wanted to be nominated, Taylor said, “I wasn’t excited at first, because I don’t do well in front of big crowds. Later on when I started planning to walk down on homecoming night, I got more excited. All the little details like makeup, shoes, and my dress made me less nervous.”
Kate and Kenzie are the junior candidates.
Kate Ruediger is the daughter of Rick and Pam Ruediger. She will be escorted by senior Justin Shockley. Kate is involved in volleyball, basketball, track, FBLA, NHS, FCA, STUCO, marching band auxiliary, and Pep Squad. Her hobbies include binge-watching Friday Night Lights, playing sports, and going on road trips. Her future plan is to attend college and major in accounting. According to Kate, the song that best describes Kate is “May We All” by Florida Georgia Line.
Kenzie Bauer is the daughter of Pat and Leanne Bauer. She will be escorted by junior Abe Madden. Kenzie is involved in the junior class as the class secretary, NHS secretary, FCCLA treasurer, and FCA treasurer. She is also involved in FBLA, STUCO, marching band auxiliary, volleyball, basketball, and track. Her hobbies include fishing, going on long road trips with her friends, and eating ice cream. Her future plan is to go to University of Alabama to double major in education and business. According to Kenzie, if she could travel anywhere in the world, she would go to Bora Bora for the gorgeous beaches, warm weather, and 24/7 ice cream bar.
Olivia and Julia are the sophomore candidates.
Olivia is the daughter of Kyle and Tiffany Williams. She will be escorted by sophomore Martin Lewis. Olivia is involved in basketball, softball, FCCLA, FBLA, FCA, Pep Squad, and St. Peter’s UCC youth group. Her hobbies include listening to music (mostly Rascal Flatts), watching The Office on Netflix, and driving around with her friends. Her future plans are to go to Mississippi State University for a vet tech degree, then come back to Mizzou for a veterinarian degree, then travel the world. According to Olivia, if she could be in any show, she would be in Friends because it is her favorite show and would be fun to have Phoebe as a best friend.
When asked how she felt about being nominated, Olivia pronounced, “I am excited and nervous! I am feeling some mixed emotions, but happy to be representing my sophomore class.”
Julia is the daughter of Dan and Jenny McIntyre. She will be escorted by sophomore Ethan Groner. Julia is involved in cross country, track, scholar bowl, FBLA, FCA, and the St. Peter’s UCC youth group. Her hobbies include running, reading, and ping pong. Her future pan is to attend college and become a physicist. According to Julia, if she could travel anywhere in the world, she would go the Great Barrier Reef to go scuba diving.
Lauren and Morgan are the freshmen candidates.
Lauren is the daughter of Jeff and Elisha Hoerstkamp. She is involved in FBLA, FCCLA, FCA, STUCO, volleyball, track, and and the Trinity Lutheran youth group. Her hobbies include volleyball and hanging out with friends. Her future plan is to go to college, but she is undecided where to go and what to major in. According to Lauren, the song that best describes Lauren is “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison.
Morgan is the daughter of Gerald and Jackie Branson. Morgan is involved in track, volleyball, STUCO, FBLA, FCCLA, FCA, and the St. Peter’s UCC youth group. Her hobbies include hanging out with friends, volleyball, and playing 8 Ball Pool. Her future plan is to go to college, but she is undecided right now on where to go. According to Morgan, if she could travel anywhere in the world, she would go to China.
When asked about what she was most excited for on homecoming night, Morgan stated, “I am excited to watch the boys in their basketball game, and to hang out with my friends at the dance.”
